Really quite poorly…
Hello all,
Have been sick as a dog this week, so have done very little writing – so little you might almost call it none, in fact. Now have Shirker’s Guilt, as the many other pressing domestic and work related issues that were not attended to during the sickness are now taking up my time, pushing the writing to the back burner. I don’t like back burners. I want all my burners in a neat row along the front.
Hopefully writing this post will silence the guilt for long enough for me to get round to doing some actual writing of fiction – fingers crossed, or thumbs held if you’re German…
Multi-tasking
“If we identify with a certain role we take on in life, it can limit who we are. I act. I teach yoga. I teach design and multicolour knitting. I’m a mother. There’s all sorts of things I do with my life.” Karen Allen
I’ve moved this quote from my bio page, as it feels quite appropriate at the moment. I seem to have a lot of hats and only one head – on the plus side, they’re all nice hats…

bottomless…
Finished Depths at last! Good opening, really hard middle, good ending, in the fact that the despicable central character got his comeuppance…but really, he was so unpleasant that it was a struggle to keep reading to see him meet his end. It’s well written, or I wouldn’t have had such a strong reaction to the characters created, but Mankell’s world is so bleak. Not recommended if you’re looking for a touch of escapism in your reading…
Feeling Fishy…
Good news! Have had a story shortlisted for the Fish Short Story prize… I have withdrawn Three of Swords from the website for the time being, but will return it to your screens as soon as the competition results are announced on 17th March. Wish me luck!
