Radio Ga Ga – Sunday 3rd May

Those of you in the Wiltshire area – have a listen to Heart on 97.2 or 102.2fm on Sunday morning with Howard and Katie…there’s going to be a little snippet of a story on air, plus some shameless plugging of this website and me generally.  Get involved!  Tune in, text the show and tell them your favourite story from the site and how much you want to see those words in print in a bookshop!

New things…

So, a draft of The Necklace is done, and needs time to settle and possibly ferment before I start fiddling with it and decide it all needs rewriting, so now I’m mulling over some new ideas…some more stories from The Meddler’s forest are emerging, I think I might gather them all together in one spooky collection…

The Tent – Margaret Atwood

I’m a big Atwood fan – Alias Grace, Cat’s Eye, The Blind Assassin, The Handmaid’s Tale, Oryx and Crake (I am traumatised by the pigoons) all stand on my bookshelves, and Wilderness Tips and The Penelopiad both visited briefly from the library.  The Tent is a bit different, described in the blurb as ‘fictional essays’, it reads a bit like incredibly eloquent and well crafted journal entires (what else would one expect of Atwood’s journal?) Imaginative, quick, short and sharp – I love it so far.

Book Oscars!

Well, what a poorly read individual I am.  I have not read a single one of the British Book Award winners, although in my defence I have at least heard of a few of them – The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, When Will There Be Good News, Devil May Care and who hasn’t heard of Stephanie Meyer.  But not actually read them.  Must try harder.

Spring!

I love the Spring.  Things start growing and the sun shines and we can play outside… the inaugural Hutchins family camping trip has been booked, and all the sun and new life appearing in the garden gets the creative juices flowing.  Let’s see what comes out of it all…
