Two for one…

Ok, since I last posted I’ve read Scarlett Thomas’s The End of Mr Y, which I found interesting and frustrating in almost equal measure, and now I’m rereading Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha.  I love going back to old books, things I’ve read before.  It’s comfort reading, revisiting familiar territory.   Tea and cakes all round.

What is the book or author you return to most often then?

Hmmm…I must have read Toni Morrison’s Beloved hundreds of times. If I’m really really looking for comfort, it’s Terry Pratchett, or JK Rowling. The other thing I tend to do once I’ve found an author I like is to then seek out everything of theirs I can find and read them all, one after the other, like polishing off an entire packet of biscuits.

Well I just finished reading A.S. Byatt’s The Matisse Stories, and I bloody loved it, have you already read it??? Wonderful descriptions of colour and form, and insights into the workings of the female of the species. LUSH!
It’s also short stories, so is right up your proverbial alley :)

Ooh thanks for the tip – I haven’t read it and am looking for something new to get my teeth into…
